The Neighborhood Watch program began approximately five years ago and introduced the program to a neighborhood concerned of frequent problems in the area. Since then approximately seven groups have been actively participating in the program. The Neighborhood Watch groups watch for inappropriate activity in particular neighborhoods, and when some trouble is detected Law Enforcement is contacted.

The Crime Free Multi-Housing Program in Austin. This program is similar to the Neighborhood Watch program, but it works through a network of landlords. The Crime Free Multi-Housing Program began approximately two years ago when an apartment complex was having problems with tenants and visitors. Since then landlords and law enforcement officials work together in the attempts to a safer living environment for tenants and their visitors.
