Duties of the Human Resources department include:

  • Serving as the City’s contact for the hiring process including – advertisement, receiving applications of employment, application review and interviewing process
  • Maintenance of personnel files and contact for employee/employment relations
  • Provide oversight and administration of employee labor agreements and participate as a management team member in the negotiation process
  • Provide benefit oversight, coordination and assistance to employees and providers (health/life insurance, flexible spending, etc.)
  • Ensure state and federal mandates related to personnel issues are being followed/implemented
  • Provide employment verification (includes position title, employment starting & ending dates and salary)
  • Serve as the City’s safety manager
  • Serve as the liaison to the Human Rights Commission and Police & Fire Civil Service Commissions

Timeline:

Physical agility testing (two sessions/options offered, candidates will be notified by email) – June 26 @ 10:00 AM or July 2 @ 3:00 PM.  This is a pass/fail test.

Oral interviews for candidates that pass the physical agility testing – conducted during the week of July 8, 2019.

Minimum Requirements:

Two-year degree in law enforcement, MN POST Board license or eligible for licensure by July 6, 2019 and valid MN Driver’s License.  Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, are required.

PAY RANGE:  Base salary range is $26.57 – $31.96/hr. (2018 wage rates)
Credit is given for previous law enforcement work experience, following an officer’s probation, allowing for earlier step (wage) increases.  Additionally, officers are eligible for longevity increases after seven years.

Nature Center Teacher/Aide/Naturalist (fulltime)

Current wage – $19.69 – $23.44/hr. along with complete benefit package

This position studies and prepares environmental, conservation and outdoor education curriculum for school-year field trips and organizes necessary materials.  Position teaches indoor group classes and leads outdoor hikes and activities. 

Minimum requirements include: Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent; two years of teaching experience in the environmental education field or any equivalent combination of related education and experience; previous general office/clerical experience; and good written, oral communication and computer skills.

Engineering Technician/AutoCAD

 Salary range: $23.99 – $30.16/hr.

Minimum requirements include: Related technical or college training in AutoCAD, engineering technology, civil engineering or any equivalent combination of education and experience with similar responsibilities. Proficiency with multiple software applications along with excellent computer skills required.

The City has multiple seasonal/summer job openings in our parks and public works departments!!  All positions are open until filled.

Applicants are encouraged to apply early!

  • Park maintenance – $9.90
    Depending on position, schedules range Monday – Sunday; typically, 40 hours/week.  Types of work includes: push mowing, weed-eating, restroom cleaner, park & garbage pick-up, tree crew laborer, landscaping/planting and ballfield maintenance (see separate description).  Must be 16 years old and up with a current driver’s license (depends on position).
  • Street maintenance – $9.90 – $11.50
    Generally Monday – Friday (days), most often 40 hours/week.  General laborer working in the areas of street repair, arena maintenance and sign/road painting assistant.
  • Lifeguard & Lesson Instructor – $10.50 – $11.00
    Lifeguards need to be certified, swim lesson instructors do not need to be lifeguard certified.  Schedule varies as necessary for summer pool operation.
  • Pool attendant & concession stand – $9.90
    Need to be at least 15 years old, includes admissions, concessions, top slide attendant.  Schedule varies as necessary for summer pool operation.
  • Recreation coaches – $9.90
    • T-ball, softball, soccer, track, and golf
