We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced mechanic to join the city to perform work in maintaining our vehicles and mechanical equipment in our public works department. The fleet of equipment includes; pickups, commercial trucks, snow plows, frontend loaders, and a variety of other construction equipment.

This is one of two mechanics who services and completes mechanical repair work for the vehicles and construction equipment in the public works department. As part of a team, the position will evaluate and perform preventive maintenance schedules for all vehicles and mechanical equipment, conduct MNDOT commercial vehicle inspections and repairs, and inspect and analyze vehicles and mechanical systems to determine proper equipment maintenance, repair, or replacement.

The position requires a Mn DOT Inspection Certificate, or ability to obtain along with the ability to supply your own tools and tool chest, except specialty tools and diagnostic equipment. Although a Class A CDL is necessary for the position, candidates without this, who have the necessary knowledge and experience may also be considered and are encouraged to apply.
