Wastewater Treatment Plant Lab Technician
The City of Austin is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Lab Technician. This essential role performs technical sample testing of sewage and receiving waters; and conducts sample testing as prescribed by authorities and document findings.
PAY RANGE
2026 Salary Range is $32.50 – $43.33 per hour.
Fulltime, Tuesday – Saturday, Non-Exempt

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (summary)
- Collects and examines sewage and receiving waters samples.
- Conducts laboratory analysis on samples; and monitors the effectiveness of the treatment plant.
- Prepares common chemical reagents and bacteriological media for laboratory analysis.
- Conducts solid testing, including weighing and measuring.
- Performs quality assurance testing as required for compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agency standards and laws.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Associate’s degree or equivalent training at a technical or vocational school with a focus in environmental science.
Experience
- Two (2) years of environmental science experience
