We are seeking energetic and motivated individuals to fill our spring and summer seasonal positions, including park maintenance, flower maintenance, pool manager, lifeguards and swim instructors, pool admissions, concessions, and slide attendants. Recreation positions include Todd Park concessions and closer, kickball umpires, and recreation leaders and coaches.

Qualifications vary by position:

Ability to work independently or part of team
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Available to work a varied schedule, including weekends

Seasonal Application

City of Austin – Seasonal Lifeguard & Swim Instructors

The city is looking to fill multiple lifeguard and swim instructor positions, ages 15 years or older, for the summer season (June – August 2024) at our municipal swimming pool; wage rates are between $12.00 – $16.00.  Lifeguards are required to be certified; swim lesson instructors do not need to be certified.  The work schedule varies as necessary for summer pool operation, which is open 7 days a week.

The YMCA will be offering multiple training dates, at $150 for YMCA members and $175 for non-members. Registration is required and done through the YMCA. The city will reimburse half the cost of the certification for individuals who work for the city this summer.
