• Project Updates:
  • September 15, 2025 – This week, the turf sub-contractor placed the sod and hydro-seeded. The street will need a final clean-up, then the project will be done until the 2026 construction season when the street will receive the final layer of asphalt.
  • September 8, 2025 – This week, the contractor cleaned up most of the project, graded and prepped the boulevards and disturbed yards for sodding or seeding. They also removed most of the traffic control. Next week, the turf sub-contractor will be in place the sod and hydro-seeding. Just a reminder; the final layer of asphalt will not be placed until early in the construction season of 2026.
  • September 1, 2025 – This week, the contractor will start cleaning up the job site. Next week, the final boulevard grading and turf establishment is planned.
  • August 25, 2025 – This week, the contractor had a paving crew become available, so they finished grading the base on Thursday & Friday, and Friday afternoon they were able to place the first layer of asphalt. Next week, they will continue grading the boulevard.
  • August 18, 2025 – This week, the contractor started doing some final grading of the street and grading of the boulevards. Next week, they intend to finish with the grading of the street because the asphalt paving crew is expected to be intown for the week of September 1st.
  • August 11, 2025 – This week, the concrete sub-contractor finished pouring all concrete (C&G, sidewalk and driveway approaches). Next week, the contractor may be in to finish grading the aggregate street base and prep for asphalt pavement. Currently, the paving crew is expected to be intown the week of August 25th.
  • August 4, 2025 – This week, the concrete sub-contractor started pouring sidewalk on Tuesday and completed most of it this week. On Friday, they will start prepping for a curb & gutter machine by setting string line. This will make driveways inaccessible for residents. Next week, they intend to start on Monday with the curb & gutter, followed by pedestrian ramps and driveway approaches.
  • July 28, 2025 – This week, the remainder of the drain tile / sump main was installed. The contractor excavated the rest of the street section, tested the subbase, then proceeded to place the aggregate base on the street. The next step will be pouring the curb & gutter, sidewalk and driveway approaches – these may happen later next week once the concrete sub-contractor is able to start.
  • July 21, 2025 – This week, Ulland Bros. finished installing the storm sewer and structures and continued sub-cutting and placing drain tile, getting through the 10th St intersection. Next week, they will continue placing drain tile and start placing aggregate subbase material.
  • July 14, 2025 – This week, Ulland Bros. finished with the sanitary and water services and started replacing the storm sewer. On the East half of the project, they subcut the road, placed drain tile and aggregate road base. Next week, the plan is to finish with the storm sewer and continue sub-cutting and placing drain tile.
  • July 7, 2025 – This week, Ulland Bros. finished sanitary sewer construction and start replacing storm sewer. Austin Utilities completed the watermain replacement. Next week, the contractor will start the street excavation and edge drain/sump mains from 4th Dr. to 9th St SW. Meanwhile, water and sanitary services will be replaced from 9th St to 12th St SW, then storm sewer will be placed along the West half of the project.
  • June 30, 2025 – This week, the contractor continued with sanitary sewer pipe and structures replacement, starting at 10th St and moving West. Austin Utilities replaced watermain on the Eastern half of the project. Next week, Ulland Bros. will finish with sanitary sewer and start replacing sanitary services while Austin Utilities should complete replacing the watermain and start water services. Once that has been completed, they will start replacing Storm sewer pipe and structures.
  • June 23, 2025 – This week, the contractor had sanitary sewer pipe and structures delivered and once the rain finally stopped, they were able to start replacing the sanitary sewer on Friday; starting at the 9th St intersection and moving West. They will finish the block between 9th & 10th on Saturday. Next week, Ulland Bros. will continue with sanitary sewer while Austin Utilities will come to start replacing watermain.
  • June 9, 2025 – Throughout the week, the contractor removed more curb & gutter and driveway approaches. Austin Utilities came in to start temporary water. Next week, Ulland Bros. plans on starting sanitary sewer replacement closer to the end of the week.
  • June 2, 2025 – On Friday, June 6th, the asphalt milling sub-contractor was onsite to remove all old pavement. Next week, Ulland Brothers plans on doing some curb & gutter removal, driveway removal and may start on sanitary sewer main replacement. Austin Utilities will be in to set up temporary water main.
  • May 27, 2025 – On the week of Monday, June 2nd, Ulland Bros. are planning to set up Erosion control, Traffic control and start removing pavement. Also, Austin Utilities are expected to start setting up temporary water main for the affected residences.
  • April 7, 2025 – Bids for the project were opened on April 1st. The low bidder was Ulland Brothers, Inc. The Austin City Council awarded the construction contract to Ulland Brothers, Inc. at the April 7th council meeting.

• Project Updates:
  • September 8, 2025 – This week, Ulland Bros. graded the slopes of the ditch and hydro-seeded the disturbed & re-graded soils. They have just a few items to touch up and then the project should be completed.
  • September 8, 2025 – This week, Ulland Bros. prepped and place the 2nd (final) layer of asphalt on the street. Then, they graded the ditches along the new street surface. Next week, the contractor will be in to hydro-seed the disturbed ground, adjust a few driveway approaches, and make several other fixes remaining on the project.
  • September 1, 2025 – This week, the City milled along several of the driveways to create better tie-in. Next week, the contractor will place the final layer of asphalt. Then they need to grade the ditch along the street, place topsoil and seed and replace one driveway approach.
  • August 25, 2025 – This week, the contractor regraded the entire street and prep for asphalt pavement. An Ulland Bros. paving crew became available on Thursday, so that afternoon they placed the first layer of asphalt on the street. Next week, they will address the ditch slopes. At this time, we are expecting the second layer of asphalt in several weeks.
  • August 18, 2025 – This week, the contractor removed the concrete section, replaced the storm sewer at that location and reclaimed the paved North section of the street. Next week, they will regrade the entire street and prep for asphalt pavement. The paving crew is expected to be in town on the week of September 1st.
  • August 11, 2025 – Next week, the contractor plans to remove the concrete section, replace the storm sewer at that location and reclaim the paved Northern section of the street. Then, they will regrade the entire street and prep for asphalt pavement. Currently, the paving crew is expected to be intown the week of August 25th.
  • July 21, 2025 – UPDATE: Due largely to all the rain, Ulland Brothers now intends to start work on the week of August 11th.

• Project Updates:
  • August 25, 2025 – This week, Ulland’s came in to touch up the sanitary spot repair sections. A private residence construction project dug into the street to connect a water service to the watermain on Thursday to stay in front of the paving crew. The pavers showed up on Thursday evening and paved the entire street on Friday. Next week, the contractor will just review and finish up any last items.
  • August 11, 2025 – This week, on Friday the contractor addressed the gravel patches remaining from the sanitary sewer repairs. Next week, they intend to mill off the remainder of the top layer for the entire project. Currently, the paving crew is expected to be intown the week of August 25th.
  • July 21, 2025 – Ulland Brothers did the sanitary sewer spot repairs located on the North end of the project on Wednesday. The contractor is now planning to be in to mill the top surface on the week of August 11th.
  • July 14, 2025 – Ulland Brothers plans on doing the sanitary sewer spot repairs located on the North end of the project by the Shirley Theel Park starting on Wednesday, July 23rd.
  • July 7, 2025 – UPDATE: Ulland Brothers now intends to start work on the week of July 21st.
  • June 20, 2025 – UPDATE: Ulland Brothers now intends to start work on the week of July 7th.

  • September 8th, 2025 – It has been confirmed that this project will be postponed until the 2026 construction season. Affected residents will receive a letter from the City discussing assessments. Ulland Bros. will develop and present a new project schedule to the City in early Spring of 2026.
  • August 18th, 2025 – Ulland Bros. met with City Engineers about potential scheduling changes moving forward. We will inform residents as things develop.
  • August 11th, 2025 – Ulland Bros. intend to start removals of pavement and curb & gutter next week. Austin Utilities will then follow by setting up temporary water mains.
  • August 4th, 2025 – This week, the contractor informed the City that their sewer construction crew will not be available to start until the week of August 18th, vs. August 11th that was previously stated. They will not start with removals until that week so not to leave the street without pavement for a week.
  • June 28th, 2025 – Ulland Brothers may start doing some preliminary work on the week of August 4th, but the intentions are to start the bulk of removals on the following week of August 11th.
  • June 21st, 2025 – Ulland Brothers is planning to start doing some preliminary work on the week of August 4th.
  • June 2, 2025 –Ulland Brothers still intends to start work in the in late-July to early-August.
  • April 7, 2025 – Bids for the project were opened on April 1st. The low bidder was Ulland Brothers, Inc. The Austin City Council awarded the construction contract to Ulland Brothers, Inc. at the April 7th council meeting.

• Project Updates:
  • August 4th, 2025 – This week, the contractor poured the concrete sections, regraded the slopes and hydroseeded the disturbed areas around the trail.
  • July 28th, 2025 – This week, the contractor did very little to the site. Next week, their plans are to pour the concrete sections, regrade the slopes and hydroseed.
  • July 21st, 2025 – This week, Hansen Hauling had Ulland Bros. in to pave the trail. They also prepared several areas for concrete. Next week, the contractor plans to pour the concrete sections, regrade the slopes and hydroseed.
  • July 14th, 2025 – This week, Hansen Hauling finished excavating the trail. Next week’s plan is to pave the trail on Monday, July 21st and regrade the slopes and hydroseed by the end of the week.
  • July 7th, 2025 – This week, Hansen Hauling installed the culvert extensions. Next week, the contractor will start excavating for the trail.
  • June 30, 2025 – Hansen Hauling plans on starting next week (July 7th). Crews will start by installing the culvert extensions, and start excavating the trail.
  • April 7, 2025 – Bids for the project were opened on April 2nd. The low bidder was Hansen Hauling & Excavating, Inc. The Austin City Council awarded the construction contract to Hansen Hauling & Excavating at the April 7th council meeting.

• Project Updates:
  • September 22nd, 2025 – This week, the contractor did not do any work due to the rain and overall wet conditions of the Center. Next week, they will continue to monitor and may return to continue grading and prepping for additional paving in the latter half of the week.
  • September 15th, 2025 – This week, the contractor paved the South trails, and continued to excavate, grade and pave the trails around the Interpretive Center and parking lot and along the South edge of the Pond to the Sugar Shack. They continued to excavate and grade the Black Trail from the Sugar Shack to the Northeast. Next week, they will continue towards the Fire Observation Tower with prep-work as well as asphalt paving.
  • September 8th, 2025 – This week, the contractor came in and reclaimed the existing asphalt trail South of Dobbins Creek this week, then did some light grading, and added some additional base. Next week, the intentions are to pave those South trails on Tuesday or Wednesday.
  • August 18th, 2025 – The City and contractor had the Pre-construction meeting, discussing times frames and potential issues. The current plan is for the contractor to start reclaiming, grading and potentially re-paving the segments of trail South of Dobbins Creek on the week of September 1st.
  • August 11th, 2025 – The City was in to place stakes in preparation for the contractor to come in next week or two and start removing and regrading the trail sections South of Dobbins Creek.
  • August 4th, 2025 – Ulland Bros. started working on this trail project on the South trails through the woods on the South side of the Dobbins Creek crossings.
  • July 7th, 2025 – Ulland Bros. intends to start work on this project once Hansen Hauling has completed the Oakland Avenue W. trail Project.
  • April 7, 2025 – Bids for the project were opened on April 2nd. The low bidder was Ulland Brothers, Inc. The Austin City Council awarded the construction contract to Ulland Bros. at the April 7th council meeting.

  • September 22, 2025 – This week, Municipal Pipe Tool Co. came into town to start cleaning and videoing the sewer segments. Next week, they will continue cleaning and videoing. The pipe-lining process will start a week or so after that.

• Project Updates:
  • July 28th, 2025 – On Friday, the asphalt sub-contractor placed the final lift of pavement for both 12th and 9th. With this, the project is all but completed.
  • July 21th, 2025 – Next week, the asphalt paving sub-contractor is scheduled to pave the final layer of street. They may be intown to prep starting on Saturday, July 26th, but plan on starting to pave on Monday, July 28th.
  • June 9th, 2025 – This week the contractor removed & poured back the broken sidewalk panels, placed the manhole castings & covers, and addressed the other items to finish up the project. The final paving is scheduled for mid-July.
  • October 21, 2024 – This week the contractor will be prepping 12th St SW for paving. Paving on 12th St is expected late this week or early next week. The contractor will also be paving 19th Ave and 22nd Ave intersections.
  • October 14, 2024 – The contractor will be completing drain tile and rock base placement on 12th St SW this week. They will also begin curb replacement.
  • October 1, 2024 – Sod and seeding is complete on 9th St SW. The remaining asphalt patches in intersections will be paved in the coming weeks. Pavement removal on 12th St SW will begin on Wednesday, October 2nd. Please remove all vehicles from the street and driveways.
  • September 18, 2024 – Next week the contractor will finish sod on 9th St and continue underground work on 12th St.
  • September 9, 2024 – The contractor plans to begin sod placement and mailbox reinstallation on 9th St on Wednesday. Sanitary sewer repairs are planned to begin on 12th St SW late this week. Full pavement removal is planned for next week on 12th St.
  • August 26, 2024 – The contractor plans to pave 9th St SW on Friday. Prior to that they will be raising manhole castings to final elevations. Late this week they will begin some sewer repairs on 12th St SW. Driveways on 12th St will remain accessible, except where work is actively taking place.
  • August 21, 2024 – The contractor hopes to pave 9th St SW late next week. They also plan to begin sewer repairs on 12th St SW next week. They do not plan to remove all the pavement on 12th St SW yet, only in the locations where they are digging for now. Those areas where digging will be painted in pink.
  • August 13, 2024 – The contractor will be working on restoring boulevards this week and final grading the rock base on 9th St SW. A date for paving is to be determined. The start of work on 12th St SW has been pushed back to late August.
  • August 7, 2024 – The contractor plans to finish grading the rock on 9th St SW. A paving date has yet to be determined.
  • July 30, 2024 – The contractor will be working on final grading of the rock on 9th St at the end of this week. Paving is expected to take place in 1-2 weeks. Work on 12th St SW is expected to begin in mid-August, an exact date is to be determined.
  • July 23, 2024 – The contractor plans to pour curb and gutter this week on 9th St. Please remove vehicles from garages and driveways. In locations where the driveway is missing, you will not be able to access your driveway until curb and driveway work has been completed.
  • July 17, 2024 – The contractor has completed storm sewer replacement and will be wrapping up drain tile installation this week.
  • July 9, 2024 – The contractor will be finishing storm sewer replacement on 9th St this week.
  • July 1, 2024 – The contractor will be working on storm sewer replacement this week.
  • June 10, 2024 – The contractor will be finishing up sanitary sewer main, and Austin Utilities will be finishing up water main work on 9th St SW this week.
  • June 3, 2024 – This week, the contractor will continue working on sanitary sewer south of 19th Ave, while Austin Utilities continues working on water services north of 19th Ave.
  • May 28, 2024 – The contractor will be working on sanitary sewer on 19th Ave this week. Austin Utilities will continue water main and service replacement on 9th St.
  • May 21, 2024 – On Thursday morning, the contractor will begin pavement removal in the 19th Ave intersection. Please make sure your vehicles are parked outside of the traffic barricades. Following pavement removal, they will be working on sanitary manhole replacement north of 19th Ave. Austin Utilities will also continue water main work north of 19th Ave. After Memorial Day weekend, the contractor will begin working on sanitary sewer south of 19th Ave.
  • May 14, 2024 – Austin Utilities will continue water main and service replacement on 9th St SW this week. Sanitary sewer work is expected to begin next week.
  • April 30, 2024 – The contractor has completed work on another street in Austin earlier than expected. They plan to move equipment to 9th St SW this afternoon and begin pavement removal. They will limit their work to one half of the street to maintain traffic. Driveways will remain accessible until Thursday. On Thursday they will begin removing the remaining pavement.
  • April 17, 2024 – A pre-construction meeting was held with the contractor, ICON. Work on 9th St SW is planned to begin on Thursday, May 2nd.

  • August 13, 2024 – Austin Utilities has completed all work on 2nd Ave NW. The contractor will be excavating the roadway and beginning drain tile installation between 18th St & 19th St. They will also be pouring curb and gutter between 14th St & 18th St this week. Work on 16th St & 17th St is expected to begin in a couple weeks.
  • August 7, 2024 – Austin Utilities will be finishing up water service replacement on 2nd Ave this week. The contractor will begin placing rock between 14th St & 18th St.
  • July 30, 2024 – Austin Utilities will continue working on water services on 2nd Ave between 18th St & 19th St this week. The contractor will continue installing drain tile on 2nd Ave between 14th St & 18th St. Work on 16th St & 17th St is expected to begin in mid to late August.

• Project Updates:
  • August 4th, 2025 – On Monday, the asphalt sub-contractor intended to start placing the final lift of pavement for 2nd Avenue and 17th Street, but a breakdown at the plant pushed the work to the next day but completed it late on Tuesday.
  • July 28th, 2025 – This week the contractor and asphalt sub-contractor prepped the street for the final pavement. The plan is to pave on late Monday or Tuesday of next week.
  • July 21th, 2025 – Next week the asphalt paving sub-contractor is scheduled to pave the final layer of street. They may be intown to prep starting on Saturday, July 26th, but plan to start paving on Monday, July 28th.
  • June 9th, 2025 – This week the contractor removed & poured back the broken sidewalk panels, placed the manhole castings & covers, and addressed the other items to finish up the project. The final paving is scheduled for mid-July. The contract will address the repairs in the street just prior to the final paving.
  • October 21, 2024 – Today the contractor will finish drain tile installation. They will continue placing sand and rock road base. Late this week, they will pour curb & gutter. Paving is tentatively planned for next week.
  • October 14, 2024 – Starting Tuesday, the contractor will be back on 4th Ave to work on drain tile installation. They also plan to begin placing the sand and rock road base this week.

  • September 18, 2024 – The contractor will be working on sewer and water service replacement on phase 2 this week. They will also be finishing up roadway excavation on phase 1.
  • September 9, 2024 – The contractor completed sanitary sewer replacement this morning. Austin Utilities will begin water main replacement on Tuesday. Later this week, they will begin roadway excavation on the west end of 4th Ave.
  • August 26, 2024 – The contractor will finish removals on Phase 2. Austin Utilities will set up temporary water service the rest of this week. Sanitary sewer replacement on will begin on Tuesday after Labor Day.
  • August 21, 2024 – The contractor and Austin Utilities plan to complete sewer and water service replacement in Phase 1 this week. Pavement removal for Phase 2 is planned to begin on Monday, August 26th.
  • August 13, 2024 – The contractor and Austin Utilities will begin joint sanitary sewer and water service replacement later this week.
  • August 7, 2024 – Sanitary sewer main has been completed on Phase 1. Austin Utilities will work on water main replacement the rest of the week.
  • July 30, 2024 – The contractor will begin sanitary sewer work on 4th Ave NE on Thursday, and continue into early next week.
  • July 23, 2024 – The contractor will begin sanitary sewer work next Monday. You may drive on the street and access your driveway until sanitary sewer work begins.

• Project Updates:
  • June 9th, 2025 – This week the contractor re-addressed the boulevard with some re-grading and hydroseeding.
  • October 21, 2024 – This week water main and drain tile work will be completed on 8th St NE. The contractor will also finish placing sand and rock road base. Tuesday they will begin concrete work on the south end of 8th St. As soon as the concrete has cured, the 8th St & 16th Ave intersection will reopen to traffic, tentatively early next week.
  • October 14, 2024 – The contractor has completed all storm sewer work and will now continue with sanitary sewer installation north of 17th Ave. Austin Utilities has completed water service replacements and will also continue water main replacement to the north. Roadway excavation and placement of sand and rock base will follow behind the underground work. Concrete work is expected to begin next week.
  • October 1, 2024 – This week the contractor will continue sanitary sewer replacement north to 17th Ave. Austin Utilities will be working on water main replacement. Roadway excavation will begin on the south end of the project.
  • September 18, 2024 – The new lift station is fully operational and the contractor will continue with sanitary sewer replacement going north on 8th St NE this week.
  • September 9, 2024 – The contractor has completed sanitary sewer work between 16th Ave and I-90. This week they will start working north on 8th St and get the lift station operational.
  • August 26, 2024 – The contractor will be completing sewer work under I-90 this week. They will then begin sewer work south of 16th Ave. They will also be installing pumps and piping within the new lift station.
  • August 21, 2024 – This week the contractor will continue work on relocating fiber optic lines and setting up temporary sewer bypass pumps. They will also begin drilling sewer lines under I-90. 8th St NE is now closed from 16th Ave NE to the north.
  • August 13, 2024 – The contractor set the lift station structure last week. This week they will be backfilling and starting construction of the sanitary sewer. Closure of 8th St NE between the lift station and I-90 will take place late this week or early next week. 8th St NE between the Institute and apartments will remain open.
  • August 7, 2024 – Work continues on the lift station this week. The contractor will also continue with forcemain construction on the south side of I-90.
  • July 23, 2024 – The contractor plans to have equipment and machinery delivered to the site at the end of this week with excavation planned to begin on Monday, July 29th.
  • July 1, 2024 – Work on the project is now expected to begin the week of July 15th.
  • June 11, 2024 – The contractor plans to begin work on the project the week of June 24th.
  • May 21, 2024 – Work on the project is now expected to begin on June 5th.
