PILLARS OF THE CITY

NORTH MAIN STREET FLOOD WALL RECOGNITION PROJECT

Pillar Food Wall

The Pillars of the City flood wall recognition project was established in 2015 by Mayor Tom Stiehm with the goal to utilize the flood wall pillars on North Main Street to give recognition to people, in Austin’s past and present, who have made significant contributions to improving the quality of life in Austin related to growth, economic impact, health, education, culture, recreation, communications, business or scientific innovation.

Do you know someone that has made an impact on the City of Austin? Submit a Pillars of the City nomination for next year!

Pillar applications should be for only individual citizens (as opposed to families, businesses, or husband/wife combinations) that have made an impact on the City of Austin. An example of a full application that was awarded in July of 2023 can be found here.
